19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He rescued 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
