The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed an exciting opening credits. It features our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple agonizing backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro appears amazing. However, I felt that something was lost in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second release released by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its inclusion.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder the performer added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, Critical Role has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the original episodes are available on the audio platform and the video site.
